The aging baby boomer generation will push Elder care workers to their capacity limit. The question is, what role can IoT connectivity play to support Elder Care in the near term?
Imagine the layout of a senior care residence with a main building, numerous resident rooms, lounges, corridors, nurses’ rooms and a garden. Let’s call it the home zone. Resident Mr. Mayer decided to go for a walk in the garden, but he becomes disoriented and leaves the home zone. In that moment the nursing staff gets a message on their phones, that Mr. Mayer is approaching the edge of the home zone. In the nurses’ room a smart light changes from the standard white color to a warning yellow hue, notifying the entire staff.
The staff phones have an APP connected to the Yepzon FREEDOM personal tracker worn by Mr. Mayer that delivers his current location. A care assistant is dispatched to Mr. Mayer’s location and brings him safely back in his room. The messenger notification settings can also be activated by a specific outdoor temperature or time of sunset.
The black Yepzon FREEDOM personal tracker also includes a built-in SOS alarm so any resident wearing it can proactively notify the nursing staff of a situation that requires their immediate attention at any location.
Personal trackers connected to smart devices and messenger services will enhance the independence, mobility, and security of residents and enable the elder care staff to work more efficiently.
